OCD Lecture Series: OCD and the Family 3/13/2014

OCD New Hampshire invites you to our professional lecture series

 OCD and the Family

George Samuels, MA, MSW, BCD.

A serious illness not only affects the sufferer but also their family and loved ones. OCD, because of the insidious way it works, can be a particularly difficult challenge. When a child has OCD parents can be made to feel like helpless hostages, siblings may feel like their family unfairly revolves around the OCD and the OCD sufferer can be denied the feeling of being fully a part of their family. When a partner has OCD it can insinuate itself into everything from their shared bed to the daily tasks of creating a life together. Co-parenting can be a continued source of conflict, with OCD dividing their parent team. The good news is that unlike so many illnesses OCD can be defeated right now. Understanding the way it works, its tricks and deceptions, allows the sufferer and their family to successfully fight back. This presentation can be a first step.

George Samuels has been helping individuals and families fight back against OCD for over twenty years. He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. His office is in Manchester NH.

Thursday, March 13th, 2014
